School Info

The school opens at 9.10 am each day, and classes start promptly at 9.20 am.

Parents are asked to ensure that their child does not arrive before 9.10 am as there is no supervision and insurance cover available before this time. They are also asked to leave the school by 9.30 am to allow the school working day to begin.

There is a short break of 10 minutes for all children during the morning. The lunch break for children is from 1.00 to 1.30 pm.

Classes for Junior and Senior Infants end at 2.00 pm. Classes for all other children end at 3.00 pm.

There is no school uniform. The possibility of introducing an optional school sweatshirt is currently being examined.

Toys are not permitted in the school, and parents of junior and senior infants are asked to label all their property, to prevent loss.

When organising lunches for junior and senior infants, parents are asked to ensure that they have drink and packaging that is easy to open, and fruit that is already peeled, etc.

Except in extreme circumstances, mobile phones should not be brought into the school. In such cases, they will be kept in the staff room. Although the school telephone is for staff use only, messages can be passed on to pupils.

The school requests that parents give the school their home, work and mobile phone numbers, as well as that of one other adult they have chosen to act on their behalf in the event of am emergency.

As a school we have to abide by the Education and Welfare Act 2000. Any absence from school has to be accompanied by a note from the parent. Under this Act, if a child is absent for more than 20 days, a report must be sent to the Education and Welfare Officer.
