The curriculum of Tullamore Educate Together National School, like that of all Primary Schools in the Republic of Ireland, is laid down by the Department of Education and Science.
Within the boundaries set by the Department, and in accordance with the Primary School Curriculum, the Principal of the school, in collaboration with the teachers, sets out the aims and objectives of the school and plans in detail a curriculum that is suited to the ethos of the school and the environment in which it is set.
Tullamore Educate Together National School aims to create a warm and stimulating environment so that each child may work towards realising his/her highest potential. In co-operation with parents, the school will work to instil feelings of self-confidence, self-awareness and self-respect in the children.
Within the parameters of the Primary School Curriculum, the objectives are as follows:
Parents and other visitors are invited and welcome to share their experiences with the children and teachers, eg musicians, people from different cultures, etc.
Tullamore Educate Together National School will follow the broadly based Multi-Denominational Religious and Ethical Programme developed by Educate Together. This programme is based on the ethos of the school and relates to the following four main areas:
During these classes, children will learn about different religions, belief systems and traditions, and children of different backgrounds will be encouraged to talk about their beliefs and practices.
Responsibility for Religious Instruction, which focuses children on one single religion, is given to the childs parents and faith group.
Religious Instruction classes for any religion can be arranged to take place on the school premises outside school hours. Catholic instruction classes are being organised by the Parents Association.
